Zombie Duck Update…

It’s not knitting, but…

Good news – our “Zombie Duck” is doing AWESOME and she has rejoined the flock (albeit in a separated area – she can see and interact with them, but she has her own food and water and is protected from being picked on). She really was in sad shape (I will spare you the gory details) but all healed very quickly and beautifully, and it appeared she might have had major eye injuries. Turns out her eyes are fine (and they are very bright and curious now) and she was excited to go back to the duck house! She was definitely lonely and missing her flockmates, despite sharing a room with two cats and a human. For the record, the cats were scared of her…

Yeay! I’m very thankful she recovered – our kids were very worried for her. Vetericyn is an amazing wound treatment product – highly recommend keeping it in the house for pets! http://www.amazon.com/Vetericyn-Plus-Animal-Wound-Skin/dp/B00425DZTM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427936368&sr=8-1&keywords=vetericyn (I am not an Amazon affiliate nor do I have any connection with Vetericyn, but this product is amazing!)

We used it to keep the wound clean and ‘sterile’, and used local unpasteurized honey as a dressing (as we couldn’t come up with a better means to keep it moist – it stayed on much better than triple antibiotic ointment)…

Ahhhh, a happy ending…
